Balasan is a philippine municipality in the province Iloilo in Region VI Western Visayas which be­longs to the Visayas group of islands.The municipality Balasan is seated about 104 km north-east of province capital Iloilo City and about 414 km south-south-east of Philippine main capital Manila.

 

     Regarding urbanization Balasan is classified as partly urban. Balasan occupies an area of 54.27 km². By the end of 2007 Balasan was the home of 27,384 residents. Thus by average 504.59 people are living on one km².

Administratively the Municipality of Balasan is subdivided into 23 barangays. 2 compose the center of the city wheras the other 21 are in the outlying areas. Some of them are even several kilometers away from the center of the Municipality.
